We bottle raised a kitten named Caboose once. A nice FEMA worker was checking on one of their trailers after Katrina and the man who’d been living there for several months had moved out and left 40, yes, 40, cats in the trailer.
The poor FEMA guy had no training on what to do with this, so he sat on his car trunk looking up cat rescue groups on his phone until he got to ours. We sent people with carriers and got the 20 adult cats and the 20 nursing kittens, and set to work figuring out which kittens went with which mamas.
The mamas were spooked, and some of them sniffed out and claimed their own babies, some didn’t, or didn’t claim them all. The very last kitten found, in a drawer, was named Caboose and was one of the unclaimed, so she got bottle raised by me along with 3 others.
