New Toy
Leila: Mom, I’m bored.
Cat Mom: Well lucky for you, it is time to present you with the Welcome Toy.
Leila: What’s this?!
Cat Mom: It’s a tradition – every time we bring in a new family member, we present them with a Welcome Toy. We wait until they have fully settled in before we give it to them.
Leila: Awesome! I’m thankful for Welcome Toys!
Cat Mom: Little Leila must have been on her own a good while, she hasn’t had much interest in playing since we brought her inside – all she wanted to do was snuggle and eat.
What house cats consider ‘play’ is what feral and abandoned cats use to survive – not a lot of fun in that. Most of our rescued abandons and ferals when we bring them in have no interest in play – but over time they all succumb to a good toy, ping pong ball or shoelace. Little Leila has become a kitten again and is now an old pro at play!
We are very thankful for her in our lives and extra thankful she has forgotten her old life and embraced her new one.

Enjoy your new toy, Leila!

Our Lucy was a 6 month old almost feral stray when she showed up outside our house 6 1/2 years ago. She loves to play and will initiate play by running around and “tagging” us! Have a great day!

She knows she is loved, what a sweet face!

When Daisy Mae was a kitten almost 13 years ago, she loved to play now that she’s older now all she wants to do is sleep. However, she will play and explore every-now-and-then.

We are so thankful Leila has settled in and is learning to PLAY. We remember when Arty first came to live here she did nothing but sleep and eat for awhile, of course she was recovering from a spay and problems with her ears but once she got better she LOVED to PLAY.

I love your welcome toy tradition! She’s such a beautiful girl and you’re so lucky to have found each other.

So very true, but isn’t it just about the most rewarding feeling when a retired feral does start to play? It just warms the heart.

I adore your welcome toy tradition! She is such a gorgeous, special little girl.
