McTavish: We are thankful for our friends on the Blogosphere,

everyone is always so helpful.

Mom wanted me to ask for some feedback, so …

When Mom scoops our litter box,

she puts the ‘treasures’ into a plastic grocery store bag and throws it away.

So, she was curious – what do you all use to put the ‘treasures’ in?

All plastic bags of any kind were banned in the state of Maryland as of October 1, 2021. That is what we
used to use (from grocery stores, retail, carry out, etc.) For many years prior, you’d paid .05 per bag added to your purchase and could “buy” extra bags if you wanted. Now: only paper bags. The paper is
often quite thin, by the time you’re home with heavy groceries it’s torn/ripped here and there so rarely works for litter disposal. And some stores are charging up to .25 cents per bag now (!!!) so mostly I
bring my own canvas bags. It is a problem. Once bought a roll of the “doggie poop bags” but they are slim/narrow and hard to put the litter clumps into … not so workable. Have now just started buying
the smallest (4-gallon) trash bags that are for sale. It’s wasteful, having only one kitty … if I had a yard might try to figure out something with composting (?) … or burying the waste (?) … I do think cutting down on the use of plastic is good environmentally, but for pet owners … what to do?

I use the plastic grocery bag for kitty treasures too. I also use them to line trash cans in the house. They are the perfect size. They never go to waste around here. McTavish..pleased to meet you, Sir.

I use two newspaper sheets, and deposit every thing there.
Then, I carefully roll it so that it fits into a plastic bread bag or a newspaper wrap, then it goes into the garbage.

I use cheap sandwich bags from the Dollar store and seal the bag so there is no odor. I also use plastic bags from the grocery store.

we also use a plastic grocery store bag for our “treasures”, we use them for Levi’s “treasures” too!

Howdy McTavish! We use Litter Genie here, it keeps the stink down. It’s not overly cheap but with multiple cats we find it quite useful.

I use gallon paint cans with a brown paper lunch bag to hold the treasures. When the bag gets full I bag it up and put in the garbage can.

The mom uses plastic grocery bags too. And she’s afraid one day they will stop using them like other places have and then she doesn’t know what she will use. ~Ernie

We use plastic grocery bags too BUT our stupid state has banned single use plastic bags. Thankfully I hoarded a lot before the ban went into effect.

Garbage bags or grocery bags, whatever is to hand.

Also the cat food we order comes in a resealable bag, so i use that. One thing i hate to do is throw away a bag with nothing in it, so i try to use every kind for throwing away something.

Shee used to use Pet Valu plastick bagss butt they are beein banned soon. Shee keepss bread an milk bagss two…so wee allwayss have sumthin fore mee treasuress 😉
