Gemma Mama
6 or so years ago we trapped some weened kittens from a Feral Mama.
Gemma was one of them.
Back then, we thought you had to wait until the cat was 6 months old for spaying/neutering.
Not so.
Gemma got pregnant at 4 months old.
She was way too young and had an inflamed mammary gland
so there was no terminating the pregnancy.
We were VERY worried about her and so was our Vet.
One night, she jumped on the bed purring and rubbing against us.
Then she started sniffing at her back-end and
almost like chasing her tail,
she started spinning around.
I caught a glimpse of a small shape fly out of her back-end
and realized she had just given birth.
She had no idea what was going on back there!
Luckily, that small shape did not fly off the bed!
Gemma took her kit into a little tent we had made for her.
She gave birth to her second kitten a while later.
Everyone, including Gemma was healthy and fine.
I think that night was when my hair started turning gray!
She had two sweet kittens who we love so very much, above is her Emmitt.
This is her Zoey.
And that is the story of how Gemma became Gemma Mama.

Beautiful pictures of sweet Gemma and her sweet kittens; I’m glad everyone did so well!
It happens so fast! A feral mom (now spayed) brought us her kittens in 2019. At 5 or 6 months, our boys showed interest in their sisters. We were fortunate because our girls were not amused, and were feisty. We were able to get everyone spayed and neutered in time, but it was close.

What a sweet little family, and luckily, it was Gemma’s first and last!

Wow, that is an incredible story. It always makes us sad when kittens have kittens, but we are glad that everything turned out okay for Gemma, Emmitt, and Zoey. In spite of some premature grey hairs for you!

Such a beautiful and sweet family and she is so lucky to have had you in her corner.

Precious kitties, and quite a story.
It’s such a blessing now that they will do the spays at 2 1/2 pounds, or 10 weeks. We’ve seen several 4-month-old mamas, and it’s so hard on them (and the rescuers!).
