Mini Mighty

Mini Mighty

We called this kit Mini Panda when he was small.

Panda Bear

Because Mini Panda looked a lot like our Panda Bear.

Mini Mighty

But his personality turned out to be quite strong,

so his name morphed into Mini Mighty.

We’d love to hear the backstories

on how your kitty’s name came about!

We were first-time cat owners when Celestial Chuck and Angel came to live with us.
Chuck looked dark brown to us, so we named him Chocolate, which became Chuck/Chucky.
Angel was cow-colored, so we thought of Bessie and other cow names, but none really suited her.
We’d lost my father just before Chuck and Angel were born, so she eventually was named for a heavenly being, like my dad.

  • Katie Isabellal

When Admiral passed away, Katie Isabella came to stay with me. All three of my sons are cat men. They were raised by cats. I just helped out with cooking. So, as with all the other cats in our lives, they chose the name by vote among them and me.

It was chosen to be Kathryn Isabella. No other spelling was accepted. It had to be thusly. I was permitted to call her Katie for short.

It is fun to find out how cats got their names.

Tripod SissyCat was just SissyCat until she tried to fight a German shepherd/Alsatian. She was blessed to survive, that was 12 years ago. I do not know why her original owner named her SissyCat.

Link Linker the Stinker was named after the character Link in the Nintendo Zelda games. His name expanded as his personality did, as he was the smallest newborn kitten we ever successfully bottle raised. He is 11 and still thinks he’s a kitten, so he’s a stinker.

Dansig the Round was named after a city in Germany and earned “the Round” as he now is, and he’s also diabetic and on insulin twice a day. He does love his food, and conning his daddy out of extra treats he does not need.

The Charismatic Enigma SissyCat was originally part of a litter we raised named Anomaly, Perplexity, Conundrum and Enigma. She earned SissyCat when she proved to be mean and ornery with other cats, just as Tripod SissyCat was when she first came to live here. She is Charismatic because she charms the male humans.

Fastest and easiest cat naming ever: Lynx. As a kitten, he looked exactly like one. Tiny bobcat (a bobcat is a lynx). Not as much now that he’s older.

  • Zoolatry written by June

Mine Mommy tells me that her life took a big big change during the month of JUNE (and at the peak of something called the pandemic) … and she found me soon thereafter … plus naming me JUNE helped her keep close a young grand left behind when she made that big change, as he had been her human JuneBug for years and years … so, all in all … JUNE was im-paw-tent for her in many ways. And as it came to be, I … am impawtent to her, too!

  • Brian Frum

Those are wonderful photos of you gorgeous ones!!! Brian came with his name. We named Seal that name because when she was super wee she looked like a baby seal. Simon was originally called Five because he was the fifth kitten we trapped that day, but his purrsonality named him as Simon. Kiki was named after the singer Kiki Dee, she was dumped and left behind and I keep singing to her Don’t Go Breaking My Heart! Maxwell and Macy named themselves too, like Simon did.

Mini Mighty sure is mighty handsome! Ava’s nickname is Peepee, because when we first adopted her, she didn’t meow for the longest time. She would basically peep like a bird. She has definitely found her voice — and meows all the time nowadays. 🙂

  • Melissa & Mudpie

I love hearing those stories too!

When I adopted Mudpie I wanted to think of another chocolate-related name, like Truffles before her. I thought of Mocha, Bon Bon, Moxie (not chocolate but I love the soda), Mudpie, Smudge, Cocoa. I ended up calling her with each name, letting her decide, and when I called “Mudpie” she looked at me as if to say, “Yes, that one!”
