Cat Trees
Cat trees are an important part of making your cat feel safe and comfortable in an inside environment. A cat tree allows the cat to get above everything for an overview of what is going on in the home.
Think about a cat’s point of view from the floor. Now, actually get down on the floor at the cats level and you can see right away why it is important for a cat to have a high vantage point in order to feel safe.
We have tried nearly every cat tree out there, and found that the trees with plush covering lasts the longest and is easy to clean.
The plush covering is more durable than carpet. Carpet tends to get frayed and the cats can chew on it and even swallow it, which is not at all good for their digestive tract.
WARNING: There are some great deals out there, but be careful. We always want the best price and go with the recommendation below. However, because there were some really great deals around Christmas, we found another brand for a better price.
And we payed the price! We bought this cat tree in mid-December, by the beginning of February, the scratching posts looked like this:
It is hard to know how thick the sisal is based on advertisements, but always check or send a message asking about that.
Now, the cat tree below is a great value, easy to put together, durable, reasonably priced, and best of all – the cats LOVE them!
There are smaller cat trees, but the whole point is for your cat to get a high view of it’s environment. I have bought the smaller trees, but they are not popular with the cats.

Cat Beds, Condos and Tubes
When your cat wants a nice quiet place to nap, a cat bed or condo is purrfect! If kitty wants to play, mine love to shoot through the tube, especially if I’m dangling a toy at one end of it!
I love the condo shown below because it is sturdy – the soft ones can be traps if you have multiple cats – the other cat can jump on top of the soft condo, trapping or scaring the cat inside . In the picture above, my Freya stopped using that soft, round condo for just that very reason.
I also like this one, because you can buy more and they are stackable – good design!

Oh, the crackly cat tube! The more noisy these are, the better they like them!
They are noisy, so you might want to collapse it and stick it in a cupboard at bed time. They are fairly easy to wash, just spray with carpet cleaner, scrub and rinse with a hose or in the shower.
